CITY TEMPORARILY SUSPENDS UTILITY SHUT OFF AND LATE FEES – Upon the recommendation of Mayor Josh Eickmeier the Seward City Council adopted Resolution 2020-22 which suspends all utility disconnects and late fees until May 31, 2020. City Utility Staff will work with customers to set up payment plans to avoid getting too far behind on their accounts. “As we begin to understand how the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic effects our local economy, we need to ensure citizens and businesses can focus on other immediate needs,” said Mayor Josh Eickmeier. “This policy hopes to provide some temporary relief to those in need.” The City Council will revisit the May 31st deadline in the future to determine if any extension may be warranted. Should any customers have questions they can visit https://www.cityofsewardne.gov/covid-19-updates/ or contact the utility office at 402-643-2928.
