1595 Fairgrounds Circle
Independence Landing is a newly renovated two-acre pond adjacent to the Seward County Fairgrounds and Centennial Park. Recent renovations, coordinated by Seward County Bridges, increased access to the pond for handicapped persons, added fishing piers and picnic tables, and improved water quality to sustain a warm-water fishery. The pond is believed to have been built in the 1930’s as part of a Depression era program such as Works Projects Administration. It is a focal point for youth fishing, recreation and community activities.
