Seward, NE (pop 7,043) located just west of Lincoln, Nebraska’s State Capital on the I-80 corridor, Nebraska’s Official 4th of July City, the Seward County Seat, Progressive Business District and home to Concordia University. The Seward Police Department is authorized for twelve sworn positions and two civilian support staff.
The City of Seward is seeking highly-qualified applicants for the position of full-time Police Sergeant. Salary range $23.68 to $31.28/hr plus full benefits. The ideal applicant must be prepared to enforce state and federal statutes and City ordinances for the prevention of crime; maintain law and order within the City of Seward; plan, supervise and direct the activities of personnel assigned to patrol, training and criminal investigations.
Applicants must hold a current Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center certification; have four years of Law Enforcement experience; hold an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field, or any equivalent combination of training and experience; must successfully complete the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center Supervisor Course within one year of hire; experience with various computer programs and their application to law enforcement functions; possession of a valid driver’s license; pass vision and physical exam determining fitness for sworn duty.
The process includes two oral board interviews. Civil Service Commission reserves the right to limit the number who undertake oral interview.
